Garage Door Maintenance Tips

Your garage door has many moving parts that require maintenance to perform at its best for a long period of time.
Hinges, rollers, bearings and springs should all be properly lubricated. Your first thought may be to go to the local hardware store and grab some WD40. Just don’t. WD40 will clean all those parts, INCLUDING, removing whatever lubricant is already on them, making it noisier in the long run. Grease is a no no as well.
What should you use? Good ole fashion oil can or a 3 in 1 oil is the best. Not much is needed. Just a drop on all the hinge pivot points, bearings, and roller and a line across the top of the springs.
Understand all doors and openers are going to make some type of noise. That’ll be dependent on whether it insulated or not, what type of rollers you have, brand of door you have and type of opener you have. But, if you can hear it a block away. Might be time for some maintenance.
